Periodically, l used to go to Holy Chow for what l believed to be Kosher Chinese food. It shocked me and want to repeat that it shocked me to discover that a male in his late 50s, average built, clean shaven, and wearing a colorful kippah/yarmulke is actually a Messianic Jew. I based this on what he said to me and don’t want my lips to repeat what he said. For those unfamiliar, Messianic Jews altered Judaism to promote out of it Christianity (an axiomatic polytheistic idolatry). I don’t know if that person just works there or what is the relationship, if any, with the owner. I don’t know who the owner is of Holy Chow. I don’t recall seeing this Messianic Jew before as all times l went there (except the time l am mentioning) there were young men with yarmulkas working at the counter and 2-3 Asians, maybe Chinese, working at the kitchen. I don’t know if Kosher is applied in preparing and cooking food. I don’t know if anything was done to nullify its Kosher status (assuming this was a legitimate Kosher restaurant in the first place). I don’t know if there is a Mashgiah on the premise. I stopped going there out of abundance of caution. Restaurants that are Kosher display their Kosher supervision, like a plaque at the entrance or near entrance. If you look outside the restaurant, there is nothing about being Kosher. Why? In retrospect, l assumed that Holy Chow was kosher as have seen Orthodox patrons dine there. In fact, the Jewish Shul is within a short walking distance away. I assumed that this restaurant was kosher as it’s situated on a predominately Jewish business plaza. I assumed this restaurant was Kosher because young men with yarmulkas worked there. I assumed that l had done my due diligence before my mouth potentially and possibly tasted treif food from Holy Chow restaurant. If anyone has more insight to this restaurant, corroborating or refuting to what l wrote, please provide it in this forum. We need to promote Kosher restaurants. Now, l must add that we need to expose problematic and possibly fake ones. Out of abundance of caution, l no longer dine at Holy Chow. Out of abundance of caution, l have to Kasher my meat dishes. Out of abundance of caution, l want to warn Kosher Shomer Jews of my encounter with this restaurant.

Food is ok. Unfortunately, this is the only Kosher Chinese restaurant.

A gem in the Wahington suburbs. Usual kosher Chinese selection plus extras like falafel and shwarma. Curry beef triangles are a personal favorite. Outdoor seating seasonal. Plus, in same shopping center as kosher grocery, dry cleaning, CVS, shul, bank and more.
